World Sailing extends its partnership with GAC Pindar • Live Sail Die

Provide efficient and sustainable logistics for high profile sailing events

Southampton, UK – 10 November 2021: World Sailing has extended its longstanding partnership with GAC UK’s marine leisure, sports and events division, GAC Pindar, for another two terms until 31 December 2028.

GAC Pindar will continue to provide efficient and sustainable logistics solutions to Member National Authorities (MNAs), Class Associations, sailors and partners involved in World Sailing owned events such as the Offshore World Championships; World Cup Series and World Cup Series Final; the Youth Sailing World Championships; and the World Sailing Championships.

As the exclusive marine and freight logistics partner of sailing’s governing body, it will also continue to work to reduce the costs and environmental impact of logistics when shipping equipment to events, in line with the World Sailing 2030 sustainability program.

Focus on sustainability

Herman Jorgensen, Managing Director of GAC UK affirms that the emphasis on sustainability is in line with the GAC Group’s strategy to bring about positive change for a better future for the planet and its people.

He added: “We are committed to continuing to work to make a positive difference on eight UN Sustainable Development Goals relevant to our business and to encouraging others to do the same. GAC has already taken significant steps on its sustainability roadmap, including measurable steps to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and give our customers the visibility to reduce theirs.

Going forward, GAC’s internal IT systems will be able to provide greenhouse gas emissions data at the quote stage. Customers will see the price, transport times and CO2e consumption before placing a reservation, allowing them to make informed decisions when choosing their logistics options.

GAC Pindar provided free delivery of the boats to the Palermo Para Development Program Clinic in October 2021.

Paralympic Sailing Support

GAC Pindar will also play a lead role in supporting World Sailing’s ongoing campaign to get Paralympic sailing back into the Paralympic Games for LA 2028. Shipment of boats, equipment and spare parts will be provided by GAC Pindar’s world-class logistics and freight services. at all Paralympic sailing events around the world as the sport continues to grow.

Andrew Pindar, founding partner of GAC Pindar said that supporting disabled sailing is something close to the company’s philosophy. He continued: “Over the past decade we have been involved in the logistics of almost every aspect of the sport of sailing, including the dizzying heights of the Americas Cup and, what is now, The Ocean Race. . But in many ways, our heartfelt support for disabled sailing is most important. This is why we join World Sailing and many others around the world in supporting the bid to restore sailing to the LA 2028 Paralympic Games.”
