World Sailing appoints leading sports governance professional as Director of Legal and Governance

World Sailing has appointed Urvasi Naidoo, a sports lawyer and governance professional, as Director of Legal Affairs and Governance.
In the role of Director of Legal Affairs and Governance, Urvasi will be responsible for providing legal advice to World Sailing group companies and supporting World Sailing compliance and governance in all areas. This includes advising and supporting the board of directors, management team, board, committees, commissions and judicial counsel on matters relating to corporate governance, the constitution and bylaws of World Sailing, sports integrity, anti-doping, contracts and intellectual property.
As World Sailing continues its commitment to developing the sport globally, Urvasi’s appointment also strengthens the support and guidance available to Member National Authorities and the international sailing community.
Urvasi joins World Sailing from the Commonwealth Games Federation. She has over 20 years of experience in the sports industry having worked for the International Cricket Council, Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the 2002 Winter Olympics, London 2012 Olympics, World Netball , British Canoeing and the International Cycling Union. She is an independent member of the Ethics Committee of the International Tennis Federation and is also a non-executive director of Surrey County Cricket Club.
