- Statement issued on behalf of: World Sailing on Monday February 28 following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine at 03:00 UTC February 24, 2022
World Sailing is very concerned about the situation in Ukraine and we are concerned for the safety of our friends in the Ukrainian sailing community.
Sport can be a force for good, bringing together competitors from around the world, united by the values of equality, inclusion, respect and fairness.
World Sailing joins many international sports organizations calling for an immediate cessation of all hostilities and the resumption of dialogue for a peaceful resolution in place of military action.
No regatta organized by World Sailing is planned in Russia or Belarus in 2022, and the executive committee supports the relocation of training and education events to Russia.
We remain in contact with all of our Member National Authorities to offer our support during this incredibly difficult time.
