Zealanders to test themselves against the best in the world and learn from the best in the world,” says Laurie Jury, Sailing Director of RNZYS “It is also fantastic to be able to invite world-class sailing events like this into New Zealand waters, and we hope to see the Women’s World Match Racing Tour go from strength to strength in its first season.”

Match Racing is the same racing format as the America’s Cup, where two teams compete aboard the one-design fleet of Elliott 7 keelboats. once in a round robin, with the top 8 advancing to the quarter-finals, semi-finals and best-of-3 final to decide both the 2022 Women’s Match Racing World Champion, and the overall winner of the first Women’s World Match Racing Tour.

“We are delighted to support the launch of the Women’s World Match Racing Tour,” commented Liz Baylis, Executive Director of WIMRA. “The Tour is a fantastic opportunity for female sailors and will continue to build on the success of the WIM series.
